Terms of Use

These Terms of Use govern your access to and use of natba.org (the “Site”), which is operated by the North American Taiwanese Bar Association (“NATBA,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). By accessing or using the Site, you agree to these Terms.

1. Acceptance of these Terms

Please read these Terms carefully. If you do not agree to them, do not use the Site. These Terms apply only to the Site and do not replace any separate terms, policies, or agreements that may apply to NATBA memberships, events, programs, donations, or services provided through third-party platforms.

2. Informational purposes only

The Site provides general information about NATBA, its mission, leadership, programs, events, membership, and other activities. Site content is provided for informational and educational purposes only.

Nothing on the Site constitutes legal advice. Accessing the Site, communicating with NATBA, attending a NATBA event, or becoming a NATBA member does not create an attorney-client relationship with NATBA or with any NATBA officer, director, member, speaker, contributor, sponsor, or affiliated professional. You should consult a qualified attorney regarding your specific circumstances.

3. Permitted use

You may use the Site only for lawful, personal, professional, and informational purposes. You agree not to:

• Use the Site in violation of any applicable law or regulation;
• Interfere with the operation, security, or availability of the Site;
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Site, its systems, or accounts;
• Introduce malicious code, automated requests, or other technologies that could damage or unreasonably burden the Site;
• Misrepresent your identity or affiliation with NATBA;
• Use NATBA’s name, logo, or content in a manner that falsely suggests endorsement, sponsorship, or affiliation; or
• Copy, scrape, republish, or commercially exploit Site content except as permitted by law or with NATBA’s prior written permission.

4. Memberships, events, donations, and transactions

Membership applications, event registrations, donations, payments, newsletters, and account features may be administered through NATBA or through third-party service providers. Additional terms, eligibility requirements, refund or cancellation policies, and privacy practices may be presented when you use those services. Those transaction-specific terms control if they conflict with these Terms.

You agree to provide accurate and current information when submitting an application, registration, donation, payment, or other request. NATBA may accept, decline, cancel, or modify memberships, registrations, programs, or transactions as permitted by applicable policies and law.

5. Accounts and account security

If a Site or third-party feature allows you to create an account, you are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your credentials and for activity conducted through your account. Notify NATBA or the applicable service provider promptly if you believe your account has been compromised.

6. Intellectual property

The Site and its content—including text, graphics, logos, designs, photographs, videos, downloadable materials, and other content—are owned by NATBA or used with permission and are protected by applicable intellectual-property laws.

NATBA grants you a limited, revocable, nonexclusive, nontransferable right to access and use the Site for its intended purposes. No other rights are granted. You may not use NATBA’s name, trademarks, logos, or other brand assets without prior written permission, except as permitted by law.

7. Third-party services and links

The Site may link to or integrate with third-party websites, membership platforms, event-registration services, payment processors, social networks, or other services that NATBA does not control. Links are provided for convenience and do not necessarily imply endorsement. Your use of third-party services is governed by their own terms and privacy policies, and NATBA is not responsible for their content, availability, security, or practices.

8. Programs, speakers, and member views

Statements made by members, speakers, authors, sponsors, volunteers, or other participants are their own and do not necessarily represent NATBA’s views. References to individuals, organizations, products, services, or resources do not necessarily constitute NATBA’s endorsement.

9. Disclaimer of warranties

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Site and its content are provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied. NATBA does not warrant that the Site will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or free from harmful components, or that Site content will always be complete, accurate, current, or suitable for a particular purpose.

10. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, NATBA and its officers, directors, employees, volunteers, members, contributors, sponsors, and service providers will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages arising from or related to your use of, or inability to use, the Site or its content.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.

11. Site availability and enforcement

NATBA may modify, suspend, restrict, or discontinue any part of the Site at any time. NATBA may also restrict access to the Site when reasonably necessary to protect the Site, NATBA, its users, or others, or to address suspected violations of these Terms.

12. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms periodically. When we do, we will post the revised Terms on this page and update the effective date above. Your continued use of the Site after revised Terms become effective constitutes acceptance of those revisions.
